Conditional Visibility for Tabs in Lightning App Builder

Salesforce Summer '24 has introduced a powerful new feature that is set to revolutionize the way we build Lightning Record Pages: Conditional Visibility for Tabs.

Previously, controlling the visibility of elements within a Lightning App Page was limited to components. While this was helpful, it often didn't provide the granular control needed for optimal user experiences. With conditional Tab visibility, administrators can now dynamically show or hide entire Tabs based on specific criteria.

What Does This Mean for You?

Personalized User Experiences: Tailor the interface to specific user roles, permissions, or record attributes. For instance, hide the "Sales" Tab for support agents or display the "Marketing" Tab only for marketing teams.

Reduced Clutter: Avoid overwhelming users with irrelevant information by displaying only the necessary Tabs. This enhances focus and productivity.

Dynamic Layouts:
Create adaptive pages that adjust based on changing conditions, such as record status or data values.

How It Works

To set conditional visibility for a tab:

  • Navigate to the Lightning App Builder
  • Open the page containing the Tab you want to control
  • Select the Tab and access its properties.
  • Configure the visibility conditions using criteria like record fields, user profiles, or other relevant factors.

Conditional Tab Visibility

By effectively utilizing conditional Tab visibility, you can create more efficient, user-friendly, and engaging Lightning Record Pages. This feature empowers administrators to fine-tune the Salesforce experience for their users, leading to increased productivity and satisfaction.
